This is the Rolex Datejust OysterQuartz ref. 17000. It is one of the most distinctive and undervalued references Rolex ever produced. A bold departure from the typical Datejust styling cues, this example wears the clean silver baton tritium dial in its original, unrestored state, presented honestly with light signs of age and wear consistent with a nearly 50-year-old watch that has actually been appreciated. The integrated angular bracelet and sharply faceted case remain one of the most architecturally interesting designs Rolex has ever put out — ahead of its time in the late 70s and increasingly appreciated by collectors today. Especially with the recently released Land-Dweller which is very reminiscent of the OQ. 5.6M serial dates production to 1978. See photos for accurate representation of condition.
